Ukraine has banned government officials, military personnel, and critical infrastructure workers from using Telegram.

The Telegram ban is on state-issued devices and was reportedly enacted due to national security concerns during the war with Russia.

The National Cybersecurity Coordination Center of Ukraine announced the ban on Friday via the Security and Defense Council's Facebook page. Russia reportedly uses Telegram for cyberattacks, phishing, malware, location tracking, and missile calibration.

Exceptions will be made for those using Telegram for their official duties. Personal use on private devices remains unaffected.

Despite the ban, Telegram remains a key communication tool for news, including updates on Russian attacks and air raid notifications.
