Ukraine’s Alternative Export Routes Can Reach 75% of Sea-Corridor Capacity
Ukraine's alternative export routes can move about 4.5 million metric tons of cargo a month, roughly 75% of what the Black Sea maritime corridor used to carry, First Deputy Minister Serhii Derkach said. Danube ports account for up to 3 million metric tons of that, and rail and road add up to 1.5 million. Authorities are also expanding border infrastructure; Russian strikes have raised the pressure on both maritime and Danube logistics.

Leonardo Opens Kyiv Defense Subsidiary to Tap Ukraine’s Innovation Ecosystem
The Italian defense group Leonardo has set up Leonardo Ukraine, a Kyiv-based research and engineering arm. It will work on communications and navigation systems, specialized software and IT services, and electronics and optical technologies. The subsidiary gives Leonardo direct access to Ukraine's defense innovation sector, including possible Brave1 projects. The company has also discussed testing its Michelangelo Dome integrated air-defense system in Ukraine, with combat trials potentially starting by the end of 2026.

Ukraine Prepares Diia.City Invest to Unlock Tech-Sector Capital
Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation is building Diia.City Invest, a mechanism to make it easier for companies in the Diia.City program to raise capital, Minister Oksana Ferchuk said. The first stage targets domestic investors, with foreign capital to follow. The ministry also wants Ukraine to be a regulatory testing ground for new digital policy, and Ferchuk points to the country's record in technology and defense innovation as support for that.

EU Clears €6.1 Billion for Ukraine Air Defense, Missiles and Radars
The European Commission has approved €6.1 billion for new defense purchases for Ukraine, covering air-defense systems, missiles and radars. The money comes from the EU's €90 billion support loan, which allocates €60 billion to defense across 2026 and 2027. Most of the procurement will go to EU defense companies. Payments are tied to approved contracts that Ukraine submits.

UK Grants Ukraine Access to Storm Shadow Technology for Domestic Missile Development
Britain has approved Ukraine's request for access to Storm Shadow missile technology, allowing Kyiv to develop related long-range strike capabilities at home. Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced the decision at a Coalition of the Willing meeting in Kyiv. London will also permit MBDA to share classified information on the British components used in SCALP missiles. That supports the wider Ukrainian-French effort to build local missile production.

European Commission Proposes €100 Billion Long-Term Ukraine Program
The European Commission has proposed up to €100 billion for a new long-term cooperation program with Ukraine under the EU's 2028-2034 budget framework. Member states are still discussing it. The proposal sits within a wider budget plan of roughly €2 trillion. It would be in addition to existing EU support, including the €90 billion Ukraine Support Loan and the recently approved defense procurement funding.

Ukraine Receives Patriot and AIM Missiles, Secures Crotale Commitments
Ukraine has received more AIM-series air-to-air missiles and a small number of Patriot missiles and has commitments for several Crotale air-defense systems with ammunition, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Other pledges landed at the same time. Norway confirmed about $9 billion for 2027 plus cooperation on the FREYJA anti-ballistic project; Sweden will fund Ukrainian drone production; Latvia agreed to joint drone manufacturing with roughly 90% of output going to Ukraine.
