Ukraine's Drones Killed or Wounded 211,600 Russian Troops Since January
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said unmanned systems units have killed or seriously wounded around 211,600 Russian personnel since the beginning of 2026, with all reported strikes recorded in the DELTA battlefield management system. Monthly figures in both March and April were around 34,000. Drone supply was identified as a procurement priority for the ministry, which reported that the Defense Procurement Agency had contracted UAVs worth UAH 333.6 billion in the first half of the year.

Nearly 29% of Ukrainian SMEs Risk Closure Amid Rising Costs
According to a survey by the Advanter Group, 28.8% of Ukrainian small and medium-sized businesses were at risk of closure in the first five months of 2026; 58.7% of SMEs reduced the scope of their activities. Higher utility, logistics, and payroll costs, as well as weak demand, eroded profitability, resulting in a 13.5% loss. Businesses also reported being pressured by regulation (56.5%), uncertainty (53.9%), and labor shortages (50.5%). Most firms seeking loans preferred subsidized rates and used financing primarily for working capital, equipment, and energy resilience.

Maersk Launches Constanța-Ukraine Rail Link as Black Sea Ports Stay Under Fire
Maersk introduced a temporary rail service for container imports and exports between Romania’s Port of Constanta and terminals in Odesa, Kyiv and Ternopil. The service will run until October 1, 2026, or until the situation at the ports in the Odesa region is normalized. Rates are reported to vary from $1,400 to $3,000 per container, depending on route and direction. The move comes after repeated Russian attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure and civilian vessels that have disrupted Black Sea shipping.

Kyiv Fast-Tracks State Warehouse Access After Russian Strikes on Logistics Hubs
Ukraine’s government will compile, within three days, a list of state-owned premises that businesses can use to disperse warehouse operations following Russian attacks. Companies whose facilities were damaged will receive priority access. Officials also plan talks with the central bank, lenders and ministries on credit support, alongside measures to decentralize international logistics, expand customs corridors and develop war-risk insurance with foreign partners. The initiative follows strikes on facilities operated by major retailers and logistics companies.

New Tool Maps Coverage Windows of Russia's Rassvet Satellite Network Over Ukraine
Aerobavovna co-founder Yurii Vysoven has developed an online tool that forecasts the geometric visibility of Russia’s Rassvet satellite constellation over Ukraine for the next 72 hours. The interactive map shows potential communication windows but does not confirm whether links are operational. The developer said the constellation currently offers only limited coverage. His team is also working on open-source countermeasures intended to disrupt the system while its orbital network remains relatively small.

Ukraine Opens UAH 10M Grant Round for Veteran-Owned Businesses
Ukraine has launched the third season of the education and grant program Trajectory and has allocated UAH 10 million to help veteran-owned and veteran-friendly businesses grow. Ten winners will get UAH 1 million each for production growth, market entry, and cooperation with national retailers. Businesses founded by veterans, service members, or family members are eligible; as are companies that employ at least one veteran. Applications close 31 August 2026.

German Firm to Build Green Hydrogen Plant in Ukraine's Bukovyna Region by 2027
A German company, LEG Projects Ukraine GmbH & Co., plans to build a green hydrogen plant in the Toporivtsi community of Chernivtsi region. The first phase is expected to be completed by 2027. The project includes solar power facilities and may later add up to 90 hectares from the initial 4.5-hectare site. Local authorities expect the investment to create jobs, support renewable energy development, and generate rental income for the community.
